crispin sartwell writes "various interpreters of God's will appear and crash airliners into buildings, or on the contrary assert that God frowns on people crashing airliners into buildings, or that God will help our blessed nation in its quest for Osama bin Laden, or that God will help Bin Laden to escape"
the air car: "The car's consumption is of just under one dollar for a 200 km drive...As there is no combustion, there is no contamination."
"Corporations Behaving Badly: The Ten Worst Corporations of 2001" (via boing boing) it's hard to get by without supporting these companies. an easy one to avoid, though, is phillip morris, who even admit "cigarette smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema and other serious diseases in smokers".
this page says "the [verizon] supervisors have been telling people to use 'smtp.covad.net' for outbound mail services." it works. does that mean covad is just a pseudonym for verizon, or is verizon actually recommending customers use a competitor?
verizon DSL doesn't allow customers to send email (via SMTP) from a non-verizon address. when i asked the technical support guy why this is, he answered "i guess we don't want you using other email addresses."
